EVENT DETAILS

Coming together as Salesforce employees along with our technology partners has a powerful effect. The money raised by this charity event is in aid of the Gavin Glynn foundation and will directly help 8 children battling cancer in Ireland receive the life saving medical treatment they need.

The “Steps to the Stars” hike takes place on the evening of Thursday 12th October 2023. Everyone is expected to be on-site from 2.30pm and hiking will begin from 3pm.

Buses will depart Salesforce Tower office at 1.30pm sharp and travel to Glendalough Visitor Centre carpark. This is a return trip and the same bus will drop you back to Salesforce Tower after the event, so please organise transport home or to your hotel from there!

The Steps to the Stars Night Hike lasts roughly 5/6 hours depending on fitness levels, you will be with an experienced hike guide at all times.

This year there are 600 steps to the stars! Count them!

The Steps to the Stars Hike meeting point is at the Glendalough Visitor Centre.

The Steps to the Stars Hike is MODERATE in difficulty. Some walking experience would be good (if you can do the Sugar Loaf in Co.Wicklow then you can get through the most difficult part of the challenge). Expert guides will be with you every step of the way.

You should bring a headtorch, rain jacket, waterproof trousers, thermals, warm socks, fleece, a backpack for your water bottle (1L) and snacks, nuts, etc.

We will have a designated area for bags, as they cannot be left on the coaches due to insurance reasons.

Whilst the buses will drop you back to Salesforce Tower. Some people might wish to make a weekend break out of it. There are plenty of options on AirBnB. If you and your partner are looking for a special weekend getaway, we would recommend you check out An Clochán.

For this hike, we strongly suggest you bring a snack with you such as nuts or protein bars. There are sandwiches organised for arrival at the visitor centre that should cater for most dietary requirements but always good to have a backup!

Unfortunately, due to health and safety concerns we can not allow your dog on the Steps to the Stars night hike.

Yes! All of the event guides are qualified with QQI Level 8 Honours Degrees in relevant areas, and hold Mountain Leader certification and years of experience leading around the world.

A hand torch or phone would suffice, but we strongly recommend you bring a headlamp. Click here for an affordable option we recommend.
